[ch. 43 / hong kong]
Made my annual visit to Hong Kong last November, and just when I thought I couldn't possibly come back with new images, I surprise myself again. It rained just about every day I was there, but I'm kinda loving the overcast and darkness of these shots.
Check out other Hong Kong shots I posted on Instagram: @bluepoolroad
Enjoy your weekend!

pw.travelogue » ch. 32 wetland park, hong kong

[chapter 32 / wetland park, hong kong] never been to the wetland park until this trip and boy, was i pleasantly surprised. i love this place. so much so that i went back for a second time before i left. behind all the hustle and bustle of the city there lies this absolute wonder of serenity, and over 150 acre of it. a definite must see. enjoy your weekend!

new work » wayfare magazine, pilot issue 2012

i know i've been holding out on my photos from hong kong, but it's for a very good reason! when erica dublin, CEO of see jane fly approached me last october about contributing to their new travel e-magazine wayfare, i was beyond excited. as we discussed the theme of the story, i immediately fell in love with the idea of documenting "hong kong" (p. 31) as a city of juxtapositions and sharing tidbits of a city that i grew up in – i even did a voice recording for the opener! and little did i know, i landed the cover as well!
not only is the magazine beautifully designed in a fresh, honest, and engaging way, there is also passion behind each story. wayfare makes you look at travel differently, and what a destination really means to the traveler. secretly plotting a "how to quit your day job" (p. 26) story of my own. ;)
i hope you enjoy this pilot issue of wayfare as much as i do. a special shout-out to the design team, anne and lauren for a job so incredibly well done. click on over and start exploring!
pw.travelogue » ch. 31 architecture, hong kong

[chapter 31 / architecture, hong kong] a few of my architectural favorites taken on this trip. constantly amazed at how much the city still inspires me year after year. third photo down is of the hong kong wetland park – my first time there and definitely a highlight of my trip. one photo does not do it justice, so more on that next week. happy weekend everyone!

pw.travelogue » ch. 29, hong kong

[chapter 29 / hong kong] had one of the best desserts here at nobu (top) during my trip there. tiny fruit spheres called "crystal fruit pearls" with yamamomo granita. they literally burst in your mouth, so yum. also went back to the american club (bottom) at two exchange square for the first time since i left hong kong some 25+ odd years ago. met up with a couple of childhood friends there for lunch and it was definitely a trip down the memory lane... pretty great.

pw.travelogue » ch. 28 out and about, hong kong

[chapter 28 / out and about, hong kong] changing things up a bit and posting a few of my camera phone images. it is annie leibovitz you see there, with hong kong photographer wing shya for gap. massive ads were plastered at the hong kong mtr/subway station. anytime i see annie leibovitz, i'm there.

pw.travelogue » ch. 27 the upper house, hong kong

[chapter 27 / the upper house, hong kong] high above the hustle and bustle of the city - my room, aptly named the "upper suite", is seriously a little slice of heaven. what a view to wake up to in the morning... and how about the key holder that says "your home"? love, love, love. besides the many obvious reasons why the upper house is on top of my must-stay list, i have to point out they have the most courteous staff, ever. that, to me, speaks volumes. thank you the upper house AND tablet hotels
for making my stay such a memorable experience, will definitely be checking back in!
