{on FLOR} wood detail...

... somehow i find wood to be very comforting… in any season, in any weather. maybe it's because – wait, scratch that, i know it is because – of my love for nature and the outdoors. i started hiking with my parents at a very young age, and continue to do so till this day... [more]

MAK architecture tour : lovell health house

lovell health house / richard neutra, architect / 1928-29

... finally onto one of the two neutra's designs of our MAK architecture tour! the lovell health house is such an iconic piece of modern architecture. the interior is just as impressive – many details were kept intact for over eighty years. the embedded light fixtures in the staircase are original model T ford headlights, amazing. i love neutra's work for so many reasons, but on a more personal note, i feel very lucky and honored to be living in a neutra townhouse. it's just one of those life experiences that i can't quite explain...

MAK architecture tour : gantert house

gantert house / pierre koenig, architect / 1981

... moving on to a more modern house on our MAK architecture tour. the canopied carport and the sheep figurine alone is fabulous, no? situated high up on the hollywood hills, this site was deemed un-buildable by the city because of the 45 degree slope of the hill. but look what koenig did with it...

{on FLOR} closet therapy...

... i'm constantly craving for more closet space... do you feel the same? no matter how organized i try to keep it, there's still not enough room for everything. there are a million gadgets out there to keep your closets nice and tidy, but if i had a spare room (or the luxury!), i would definitely... MAK architecture tour : shulman house

shulman house / raphael soriano, architect / 1947-50

... the MAK center had their annual architecture tour on sunday, oct 10 and this particular event was dedicated to the renowned architecture photographer julius shulman (it would have been his 100th birthday!) first stop on the tour was his very own home. contrary to his black and white photography, there were pops of color to be found throughout. quite a pleasant surprise.

{on FLOR} more than just black + white...

... when i was twenty-two, fresh out of college, i moved to new york city by myself and was very lucky to have found an amazing, albeit small, studio space downtown. in a doorman building, high ceiling with exposed beams to boot, vintage glass door knobs, beautiful view of a church across the street… BUT for the life of me, i could not remember why i disliked my bathroom floor so much...
